Great Ormond Street Hospital has picked Kier to build the first dedicated medical facility for children with sight and hearing loss in the UK. The £25m new Sight and Sound Centre project will be constructed within a grade II listed building . It will include specialist facilities for outpatients, soundproofed booths for hearing tests, an eye imaging suite, as well as a garden designed with all senses in mind, allowing children to see touch and smell the plants.

The existing lower groundfloor had a number of liftpits, service trenches that required a waterproofing strategy to be developed. FIS were pleased to be able to support Kier through designing the waterproofing using Hydroseal FX Waterproof Coating, Hydrostop BR Hydrophilic Strip, Hydrocrete Watertight Concrete and Hydrorend Waterproof Render.
