The Marchwood Power Station was built under contract by Siemens plc and Siemens AG, companies who have a long track record in building these plants. Measures implemented to minimise the impact of construction works on the local community were bringing large equipment to site by water via the adjacent military port.

This £380million natural gas-fired combined cycle (CCGT) power station on Marchwood Industrial Park began commercial generating electricity in December 2009 and was officially opened the following month. The station generates approximately 895MW of electricity for the national grid, enough to supply nearly one million homes. This is equivalent to the needs of Southampton, the New Forest and Winchester.

FIS were pleased to supply Trant Construction with a number of Structural Grouting, Concrete Repair and Joint Sealing products.
