In a major development for the NHS, the University College London Hospital is bringing Proton Beam Therapy for revolutionary cancer treatment to the heart of London. Bouygues UK are currently constructing a new world class 11 storey hospital which will see the PBT units housed below ground in the five storey basement.
At a maximum depth of 27M, the basement on this new hospital project is one of the deepest and widest basements to be constructed in the UK.
Acting as structural waterproofing designer, FIS are pleased to be working with Bouygues UK once again. FIS are supporting the Bouygues design team providing a comprehensive waterproofing design and technical support package. The waterproofing package has been designed in accordance with BS8102:2009 by the CSSW qualified technical team at FIS. Bouygues are installing a Type A membrane – Premcrete Maxiprufe Plus and a Type C membrane Hydroflow HP. This will create over 80 000 square feet of Grade 3 basement space arranged over five levels.
