McLaren Construction Group Ltd were appointed in 2014 to construct the latest addition to the rapidly expanding Tune Hotel chain. The site located midway on Paul Street in Shoreditch was originally an office block and car park. The scheme by Waugh Thistleton Architects Ltd was designed to make the most of the small central London site by constructing a basement beneath the seven storey hotel block.
McLaren Construction Group a repeat client for FIS, appointed groundworkers and concrete frame specialist J Coffey to construct the basement and the concrete frame building. FIS worked with the construction team and the Architect to design and install a structural waterproofing system which would produce a grade three environment in accordance with BS8102:2009.
FIS were able to advise on the correct overall waterproofing strategy to meet the requirements of BS8102:2009 and then design the more intricate details to the contractor requirements once the basement construction had been completed. FIS attended site regularly throughout the installation phase to monitor the waterproofing installation and ensure the quality of installation was to the expected level.
